Product Notes

This product is manufactured from the leaves of Cynara scolymus L. using water as the extraction solvent. It has a 10:1 extract ratio / DER and is standardized to an assay of ≥5.0% cynarin by UV.

The supplied powder consists of 90% Artichoke Leaf Extract and 10% maltodextrin. Maltodextrin must therefore be considered when calculating ingredient composition and preparing finished-product specifications.

According to the TDS, the extract is most stable under mildly acidic to neutral conditions at pH 4.0–6.5. Strong alkalinity or prolonged exposure to high pH may accelerate oxidation and degradation of caffeic acid derivatives such as cynarin.

The material is sensitive to light, oxygen, and prolonged exposure to temperatures above 60 °C. Transition metal ions, including iron and copper, may cause discoloration or complex formation, and these factors should be considered during formulation, processing, and stability testing.

Water solubility has not been tested. The extract is insoluble in oil. Formulators should also account for its inherent brown color when assessing the appearance of the finished product.
