3-Acetylbetulin for synthesis is available here.
3-Acetylbetulin CAS: 27570-20-3 is pentacyclic triterpenoid, a synthetic derivative of much more commonly found compound, betulin., that can be found in trace amounts in nature. 3-Acetylbetulin can be a useful starting material for the synthesis of novel therapeutic agents for creating triterpenoid hybrids. Thanks to the acetyl-protected alcohol group, the solubility of the betulin scaffold are improved in typical organic solvents for easier synthetic procedures. As well, it is easy to introduce new, interesting modifications of selective C(28) primary alcohol modifications.
Alcohol group of the 28-Acetalbetulinaldehyde group can be used for different ester or ether synthesis, or for oxidation purposes, to introduce aldehyde group at C(28) position for introduction of heteroatoms, nucleophilic reactions, or homologation reactions. Late-stage removal of protecting group at C(3) position allows obtaining unprotected betulin derivatives. For more betulin derivatives click here.
